I can’t believe that it’s almost Halloween already! Normally I’m not big on Halloween because I find it can be stressful putting together a costume, and sometimes quite expensive. This year I’m celebrating Halloween at the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival! This will be my first year attending the festival, and I am more than excited. There’s no better way to spend an evening than getting dressed up and trying tons of delicious food, and tasting some of the top international wines!
The Wine and Food Festival is one of Ottawa’s biggest events of the year (and one of the most fashionable), so it’s going to be a great way to celebrate Halloween in style. Above is a little sneak peak of my own take on a Haute Halloween outfit / costume. Like I mentioned before I’m not big on spending a ton of money on a costume, especially if I’m only going to be wearing it once; so this year I attempted to be a little more innovative. My costume is a black dress (which I can wear again in the future) that I paired with different accessories to create that Halloween look. I found my headband for only $10, and I thought it went perfectly with my dress to create a 1920s flapper look. It’s not like I need any excuses to wear black or lace, but I feel like they’re both a must on Halloween. To complete my look I wore black winged eyeliner and the darkest lipstick I own.
Halloween is the one day of the year that you can go a little crazy with your look — whether that’s wearing an outfit you wouldn’t normally wear, doing your hair in a different style or colour, or even wearing more makeup than usual. This year at the Wine and Food Festival they’re doing a Haute Halloween red carpet so guests have the chance to showcase their costumes. I am really looking forward to seeing how everyone else dresses; some people can be so creative!
Have a fabulous week xx
