Tips Online Shopping
I find with online shopping it’s way easier to get carried away and buy things on impulse. So here are my five tips for online shopping:
1. Step away from your cart
If you’re anything like me then you love to load up your cart with everything and then go through afterwards and start weeding things out. I find it so helpful to step away from your computer for a few hours after loading up your cart. When you step away and take your mind off of it for a little bit you really realize if you need any of that stuff or not. Half of the time I won’t get anything after stepping away, and if I do then I know it’s because I really wanted it.
2. Do your Research
Make sure you do your proper research before you commit to buying anything online! There are so many stores out there now that it’s hard to keep up. If you’re unfamiliar with a company then make sure you look into it before making a purchase so that you know your money will be well spent. Try Googling reviews of other consumers, or you can check out the company on the Better Business Bureau to see their rating and customer comments and complaints.
3. Know your Body
Before you make a purchase think of how the item will work for you. Everything looks so amazing on the models so it’s hard to judge sometimes how it would actually work or fit on you. I’m tall so I usually try to steer clear of buying pants or mini dresses online because I know that chances are they won’t fit properly. Just be aware of your shape and height and take that into consideration before making a purchase.
4. Use the Search Feature
I try to shop with a list as much as I can so that I don’t just splurge and buy everything even if I don’t need it, so I find the search bars are really helpful when online shopping. If I want a jean jacket then I’ll type in the search ‘jean jacket’ and see what pops up at all of my favourite stores. This is a great way to keep from getting distracted and browsing aimlessly throughout each category.
5. Know Your Budget
Set yourself an overall budget before shopping and stick within that. I live in Canada so a lot of the time there is shipping fees and duties to take into consideration before making a purchase. For me, it wouldn’t make very much sense to buy one top and then pay all of that extra just to get it to me. Be aware of where the company you’re ordering from is located and take into consideration whether you’ll have to pay extra to get it to you.
